Ron Paul Wins 15 Percent in Oregon

ARLINGTON, VA – Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul received 15 percent of yesterday's primary vote in Oregon, a state in which he inspired both strong grassroots activism and online support but did not physically visit.

"Oregonians and Americans are hungry for the leadership that will protect the traditions that made our country so great," said campaign spokesman Jesse Benton. "Dr. Paul's grassroots supporters delivered Dr. Paul's second best GOP primary showing based on percentage points. Dr. Paul and the grassroots movement he has inspired are building a bright future for the Republican Party and the United States of America."

A Ron Paul Revolt?

Paul spoke with radio station KTRH in Houston this past week and discussed the role of his supporters at the convention. When asked about a "revolt" at the convention, Paul said he wasn't sure that's the appropriate word, but "there certainly will be some challenges because the supporters I have, have been very energized." Asked what those challenges from his supporters in St. Paul may be, Paul said, "There is no specific plan."

Putting a Thunderbird emblem on a Chevrolet, doesn't make it a Thunderbird. It's still a Chevrolet. It says "R" on McCain's registration card, so you Limbaugh/ Hannity types out there are waving the banner for a turncoat who is no more of a Republican than Dianne Feinstein.

Shortage fears push oil futures near $140

Fears of a shortage within five years propelled long-term oil futures prices to almost $140 a barrel, further stoking inflationary pressures in the global economy.

The spot price of Nymex West Texas Intermediate hit a record $130.30 a barrel on Wednesday. On Tuesday investors had rushed to buy oil futures contracts as far forward as December 2016, pushing their prices as high as $139.50 a barrel, up more than $9.50 on the day.

GOP faithful are looking to Tuesday's primary with apprehension because some candidates running for Republican Precinct Committee positions subscribe to Ron Paul's brand of politics.

"It's happened in Spokane, it's happened in Southern Idaho, it's happened in Minnesota," said Brad Corkill, chair of the Kootenai County Republicans. "Every incumbent precinct person who is being challenged is being challenged by a Ron Paul person."
