Houston Marriott South at Hobby Airport

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

2016 is an election year, and already the Hillary/Bernie/Trump saga has consumed most of the media’s oxygen for several months. As usual, politics brings division and anger: Americans literally fear having one disfavored candidate or another occupying the White House next. And so it goes. Lobbyists and super PACS spend billions, the candidates spend millions, and the whole sordid spectacle grinds on. From the libertarian perspective, there are worrying questions about the various candidates’ plans to tax, regulate, conscript, and wage wars.

But what does it all portend? Will the libertarian message get swept under the rug over the next year, as the candidates unleash an orgy of statist rhetoric? Or are hopeful cracks beginning to show, as the two parties, mainstream media, academia, and PC enforcers increasingly lose credibility with the public?

As Murray Rothbard argued, libertarians by necessity should never allow themselves to get bogged down or depressed by the political landscape of the day. On the contrary, Murray argued, we should enjoy skewering the political class — and remain hopeful for the long-term prospects of liberty.

In that spirit, please join us and our speakers — Ron Paul, Lew Rockwell, Bob Murphy, and Jeff Deist — as we examine the issues of the day and the future for liberty in 2016 and beyond. Lew will present us with “Four Reasons to Worry, and Two to Rejoice,” while Ron Paul takes a look at “What’s Ahead.” Jeff Deist examines what the battle between the alt-Right and the socialist Left means for liberty. Bob Murphy provides insights into where the economy is headed, both here in the US and globally.

Large selections from the Mises Bookstore will be available for purchase. Show your Mises Membership card to the cashier for a 10% discount. Speakers are happy to autograph books.
