NYT has a graphic out on selected words used by President Obama in his State of the Union addresses, and by Republican presidential candidates in their debates, television interviews and major speeches since May.
Former GE CEO Jack Welch and his wife Suzy appeared on CNN’s Starting Point and told host Soledad O’Brien that they were calling upon Ron Paul to drop out of the race — although all of their kids were for Ron Paul!(continues)
“You know, Ron Paul’s followers are not party regulars. He’s not a party regular. He really has these very, very impassioned followers. All four of our children are huge Ron Paul followers,” Suzy acknowledged. “So we’re living with this.”
Suzy Welch’s startling admission that they were asking Paul to drop out in spite of the fact that he had captured the imagination of her own kids ended up overshadowing the rest of the interview. The revelation caught the attention of CNN contributor David Frum, who was sitting on set, and tweeted incredulously about the news.
"I am an active duty Naval Officer currently stationed in Norfolk, VA. I am not sure if you have ever served, but I can tell you, as a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and having been an active duty officer (been on one deployment) for 2.5 years now, I can say that in my opinion your views are right on 100%. Although i studied Political Science (International relations) in college and used to consider myself fairly informed on politics and world affairs, I realized about a year ago that I knew nothing. Nothing truthful anyways. I have learned more about the world and our true place in the world in the past year from reading and listening to people like Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, Lew Rockwell, and F.A. Hayek than I did in my first 22 years of life. I have really opened my eyes and as discouraging as it is to see whats really going on, it is even more uplifting to know the truth...I am getting out of the navy as soon as my contract is up, and I am very interested in getting involved in the kind of work you do. Thanks again and God Bless!"(post)
Fidel comments: "The selection of a Republican candidate for the presidency of this globalized and expansive empire is — and I mean this seriously — the greatest competition of idiocy and ignorance that has ever been." He is wrong about one thing, of course. The Republican campaign is a three-ring circus with the clowns of Gingrich, Romney, and Santorum. Ron Paul is not a part of it.(post)

Ron Paul campaign slams decision to accommodate Newt’s “billionaire buddy” casino magnate at special caucus(continues)
The presidential campaign of Texas Rep. Ron Paul is calling it “underhanded” and “completely unacceptable” that the Nevada GOP has scheduled a special evening caucus in Las Vegas on Feb. 4 to accommodate billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson. Carl Bunce, Nevada campaign chair to the Paul campaign, reacted forcefully to a Chronicle report that the state GOP Thursday confirmed the decision to go ahead with the special caucus beginning at 6 p.m. A party official told the Chronicle the special caucus would “accommodate those with religious restrictions.”
But the Nevada GOP has raised eyebrows with its move to provide a special evening caucus session at the Adelson Educational Campus, a private school in Las Vegas founded by Adelson. State Republicans told the Chronicle the decision came after pressure from the billionaire who donated $5 million to a special PAC in support of GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich — a donation that was matched by his wife, Miriam.
