US casualties likely to rise in Afghanistan

The new commander of the US army in Afghanistan has warned that al-Qaeda would again use the country as a base if Washington failed in its mission.

Army Lieutenant General Stanley McChrystal also predicted on Tuesday that US casualties would likely rise but the war could still be won, although not easily.
