6 GOP hopefuls trade ideas, barbs in S.C.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC — After not being invited to a forum for Republican Party candidates in New Hampshire, presidential hopeful Ron Paul was determined to make the best of his participation in a debate Thursday night in South Carolina.
Paul fought off comments from the other candidates as well as the moderators of the debate about his views of strict constitutionalism and non-interventionist foreign policy.
At one point, panelist Carl Cameron of Fox News Channel questioned whether Paul was electable.
“I’m the most conservative member here,” Paul said in a frustrated tone. “I have voted, you know, against more spending and waste in government than anybody else.”
